I decided to reshoot some pictures of Abby as I wanted to get a more dramatic effect through the basic images. I wanted there to be a lot of emotion coming through from the basic images so that when I put the weird images next to these one's, there will be more of a contrast. In these images I wanted to show how Abby isn't happy being normal and how society expects her to be. She wants to be free to dress how she wants, to live how she wants and to act how she wants. I used a black backdrop to reflect the sombre mood and to pull out the emotion in the picture. I also wanted it to look as if Abby has taken her top off to really show the rawness of the emotion in the image and to get the image as basic as possible. I then took images of Abby in her duck costume. Previously I had taken pictures of Abby in a princess costume however i decided to take these ones as well because I wanted my images to look even weirder than they were before. I decided on a duck costume because Abby collects rubber ducks and I wanted to show her 'weird' obssesion as well as her costume in my photographs. I used a white background to show the contrast between the two different personas of Abby. I wanted the duck photographs to be very free and happy to highlight the two different emotions between Abby as being normal and Abby as being 'weird'.
After shooting the duck images, I decided to re-shoot some of the basic images. I wanted to get some basic images in the same or as similar a position as the duck ones so that I can try and position them together.
I needed to shoot my subject in the same position but from different ranges as I needed to try and put two images together in the same position. Even though it would have been more ideal if the subject was wearing the same dress as she had been in the initial images, it doesn't matter as much as i won't be using the initial images and these images together in my final selection. I will only be using one 'basic' image of Abby. The backdrop and the clothes still needed to be black however, to create a contrast between the duck images and these images.
